Jake Slattery’s goal on 47 minutes was the icing on the cake but they created a first half buffer that ultimately proved decisive.

Niall O’Farrell was Broadford’s scorer-in-chief with seven points as they built a 0-10 to 0-4 interval lead.

Feakle/Killanena struggled for scores but were creating chances and while guilty of five first half wides, the Broadford defence also deserve credit for making life difficult.

Ronan O’Connor struck all Feakle/Killanena’s four opening scores but after Eoghan Gunning stretched Broadford’s advantage upon the restart, O’Connor made his most telling mark.

A goal on 35 minutes brought the amalgamation back in contention and two more points for O’Connor, one after an excellent Peter O’Farrell save, left it 0-11 to 1-6 on 39 minutes.

Both goalkeepers produced a couple of good stops but after Broadford got back on the scoreboard through Denis Fahy and Niall O’Farrell, they struck the winner.

Substitute Michael Moran received a yellow card just minutes beforehand but that didn’t stop him bravely knocking a ball down entering the final quarter.

It fell kindly for Slattery and he made no mistake – his low drive finding the net and Broadford were seven clear.

Fahy added another to make it 1-14 to 1-6 with nine minutes remaining and Niall O’Farrell concluded their account on 55 minutes.

Frees for Eoghan Daly and Ronan O’Connor finished Feakle/Killanena’s tally but their challenge was over after Slattery’s goal.
