Podge Collins – the Last of the Dual Stars
Hurling is often fondly described as one of the fastest field sports in the world. To play a sport which demands both pace and skill – you must make decisions instinctively.
When the time came for Podge Collins to make a big decision he couldn’t rely solely on instinct – he needed courage.
In 2017, Podge had to inform his father that he would no longer play Gaelic Football for Clare, in a bid to focus his efforts solely on the Clare Hurling team under Davy Fitzgerald, meaning that this would be the end of their shared journey.
In this episode, we explore both the on and off-field decisions that Podge faced, and how he continues to deal with them to this day.
