Clare produced a late fightback to win their opening game of the 2020 season in Nenagh today.

Brian Lohan’s first competitive contest in the Munster Senior Hurling League ended in a 2-17 to 1-19 victory over All-Ireland champions Tipperary.

The visitors trailed throughout the majority of the second half after Tom Fox’s 40th minute Tipperary goal and Liam Sheedy’s men led by three with six minutes remaining.

Ian Galvin and Seadna Morey got Clare’s first half goals but with Podge Collins and Niall Deasy proficient on the scoreboard, the Banner stayed in touch.

Tipperary depended on Jason Forde who finished with 14 points but the better spread ensured Clare overturned the deficit.

Cathal McInerney equalised with two minutes remaining before Aidan McCarthy sent over the winner.

Clare will face Limerick in Sixmilebridge on January 5th and another win will secure the defending champions a final spot the following week.
