St. Breckans’ ambitions of Munster intermediate championship glory have come unstuck in Mallow as Kerry’s Templenoe ran out 0-14 to 0-5 winners in the provincial final.

The Kerry side led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break with Padraig Kelly converting twice for St. Breckan’s and Stephen Tierney also on target.

But Donie Garrihy’s side were also missing chances while Colm O’Brien’s goal opportunity just after the break could have changed the game’s complexion.

Admittedly, the Clare side weren’t done any favours by referee John Ryan as Maccon Byrne and Padraig Kelly received black cards over the hour.

But Liam Tierney’s sending off on the three quarter mark ended any chance of overturning the deficit.

Despite two Aiden Davidson second half St. Breckan’s scores, this final fell apart in the final quarter with Templenoe kicking six on the spin to maintain Kerry’s grip on the competition.
