Emmet O’Shea’s goal on 11 minutes gave the Kingdom an advantage they never relinquished and they stretched 1-8 to 0-3 clear by the break.

Jamie Stack opened for Clare on two minutes but they only added two more through himself and Micheal Garry in the opening 30 minutes as goal chances went abegging – Shane Meehan twice and Brendan Rouine denied.

It was a more positive attempt after the restart as Shane Meehan, Liam Murphy and Jamie Stack found the target but Clare never managed to get back within six points of the Kingdom.

In the end, Clare needed a goal that never came and with that the victory required to advance didn’t materialise.
