Clonlara have been denied their first ever Munster club hurling title after a crushing defeat to Ballygunner this afternoon.
Following a John Conlon point seconds after throw-in, goals within the opening 20 minutes from Dessie Hutchinson and Kevin Mahony gave the Waterford side a comfortable early lead.
A dominant display from the reigning champions put Donal Madden’s men behind at the break with a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-09.
While the second half was a lower scoring affair, Ballygunner retained their lead to come out on top at the end with a final sore of 2-24 to 0-16.
The result makes Ballygunner the first side to win three consecutive Munster hurling titles.
