The gaa’s central council has voted to retain a six tier divison 1a and 1b for the national hurling league from 2014.

it means that the top four sides in each divison will now qualify for q-finals.
The decison goes against the wishes of the Clare county board who had favoured a proposal to return to the old 8 team structure.
The meeting also voted to reduce the number of match officals on the sideline from the current 12 permitted to just five.
Those allowed to this area will be the team manager, maor foirne, one medic and two water/hurley carriers from januray on.
