The GAA have unveiled a discussion document with major changes proposed to the All Ireland Football Championship structure.
The major change would see the quarter finals replaced with a group stage series, made up of two groups of four.
The top two in each would go forward to the All Ireland Semi Finals, which would be played over one weekend.
The provincial structures would remain as they are, but the A & B structure of the qualifiers would be scrapped.
The changes would also see the All Ireland Hurling Final brought forward to the 3rd week of August, with the football final on the 3rd Sunday in September.
It also proposed that championship matches go to extra time rather than a replay, with another day out only coming about in the case of a draw after extra time.
The document will be now be discussed by county boards and central council
