The GAA director general Pauric Duffy has released a wide ranging annual report.

In it, he has defended the Association's disciplinary system – saying that, for the most part, it works well.

With regard to structure of the All Ireland championship, he believes that there was no better proposal for changes to be put before next month's Annual Congress other than the one that Central Council have suggested.

The basic idea of the proposal is that Division 4 counties will be part of their provincial championship – but instead of the qualifiers they'll enter into a B Championship.

Duffy says there are many positives to the proposal…

Elsewhere, Kilkenny look set to be without Ger Aylward (pr: Ale-ward) for a long period of time.

It's been confirmed that the All Star forward damaged his cruciate ligament during last Sunday's All Ireland junior club semi-final for his club Glenmore and he's now a doubt to feature in the Cats' All Ireland title defence.
