Frost Calls for Strict Adherence To Club Fixtures

Munster Chairman Robert Frost has pledged strict enforcement of club championships in the year ahead.

During his address to the provincial convention last night, the O’Callaghans Mills Club man paid credit to the success of Munster teams delivering five all Ireland titles, but made particular reference to the 95 percent of the provincial playing population of non county players, and called for counties to stick rigidly to agreed Master Fixture plans.

Frost has promised they will be enforcing rule 332 this year, surrounding the monitoring of county fixtures, and say club matches should be played in conjunction with the inter-county championships and not left until their respective county teams are finished their championship campaigns.

This months meeting of Clare county board saw clubs agree on the fixtures plan for this year, with the Senior Hurling championship beginning with a round in May, while football clubs have opted to wait until the earliest date in late July/Early August.
