Glen Whelan has become the latest injury worry for Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni ahead of Fridays World cup qualifier with Germany at the Aviva stadium.

The Stoke midfielder was withdrawn 20 minutes into yesterday’s scoreless draw with Liverpool due to a hamstring injury and will undergo scans today before any further decision is taken.
Sean St Ledger and James McClean are also carrying hamstring and groin injuries.
