Former Clare Captain Says Round Robin Format May Be Needed For Championship

A former Clare senior hurling captain believes the GAA may need to look at reinstating the round robin format of the Munster championship if the National Leagues are shelved.

Intercounty sides now won’t be able to return to training until Easter at the earliest, after it was revealed Gaelic games is no longer covered under Level 5 exemptions for elite level sports.

If League competition is cancelled, it may mean Clare and other counties return straight to championship action in the summer after more than six months off the field.
