A former captain of Lahinch Golf Club has praised Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley in the aftermath of Europes win over the USA at Gleneagles.

McGinley is a former winner of the South of Ireland championship at Lahinch, a feat also achieved by Graeme McDowell who was part of the winning European team.
Past club captain at Lahinch Martin Barrett also identified the closeness of the European squad as crucial in their victory.
