Fitzgerald pleased with early season run as squad rotation continues

It's been confirmed that Clare's last Munster Hurling League group game against Limerick could also double as the final of the competition.

The Banner qualified for the decider with a comfortable 1-20 to 1-9 win over Waterford, their third victory in a row this year.

Limerick take on Waterford tomorrow night in the Gaelic Grounds, where a win or a draw for the home side would also see them through to the final.

With the two sides set to meet next Saturday night, that game would then serve as the final.

Clare boss Davy Fitzgerald has used the competition to run the rule over a number of squad players, and he says that's a vital function.

Meanwhile 2013 All Ireland winning captain Pat Donnellan is to undergo a scan on a knee injury today.

The O'Callaghans Mills man landed awkwardly on his knee during a challenge match against na Piarsigh on Saturday.
