His side suffered their third defeat in as many games in this year's League, going down 2-19 to 0-20 against Tipperary at Cusack Park.

They now face a battle for survival in the top tier, with games at home to Dublin and away to Kilkenny to come.

Galway are right in contention for a place in the knockout stages of the Hurling League following their 0-20 to 0-18 win over Kilkenny.

Limerick went second in Division 1B, after beating Wexford in a 7-goal thriller.

Meanwhile, Clare's camogie side are also still searching for their first win of the 2015 League.

Chloe Morey struck a late goal, but Colm Honan’s side were beaten by Dublin, 1-13 to 1-11.
