Fitzgerald eyes real potential in young Clare hurlers

Davy Fitzgerald has said that Clare’s youngsters can’t rest on their laurels, if they’re to turn the county’s fortunes around.

The Sixmilebridge native and Waterford manager says there is great potential in the county’s young players, after Clare tasted success at Minor and Under 21 levels in the last two years

However, he’s warned those players that they must continue their hard work and dedication, if they’re to have any chance of recapturing the All Ireland Senior Title

Fitzgerald made the comments at the Star GAA Awards for 2010, at which Doonbeg’s David Tubridy was among the players honoured

He received an award for his man of the match performance in Clare’s loss to Offaly in the All Ireland Qualifiers

Earlier this year, Tubridy was also named as Vodafone GAA Player of the Month for March – he’s set to be a key part of the Doonbeg side which will take part in the county final this coming Sunday
