First Meeting Of Clare GAA In 2016 Saw Draft Masters Fixtures Plan Unveiled

The first meeting of Clare GAA in 2016 saw the draft Masters Fixtures Plan for the year unveiled.

Details were also given for the first championship draws of the new year.

In the first meeting under the new chairmanship of Joe Cooney, the remaining motions from Convention were up for discussion.

It was decided that there will no repeat pairings in this seasons club championships where possible, while it was also decided to introduce quarter finals to hurlings Clare Cup, with the teams who finished 3rd and 4th in Division 1A meeting the top two sides from 1B.

Football's Cusack Cup will get the new senior year underway, with the first round slated for March 19th. 

The first round of the Senior Football Championship is pencilled in for mid June, with the date dependent on Clare's result against Limerick in the Munster Championship.

The Clare Cup is set to get underway on March 26th, with the championship proposed to start on the weekend of May 14th.

It was also decided that the championship draws will be held at the February meeting of the board.

The U21 hurling championship will get the new season underway on February 28th, with the draws for this to take place in Clareabbey at 6pm next Monday evening.

The U21 football championship is provisionally set to start on September 24th.
