Fees considered for Lees Road Track

Individuals and sports clubs could soon be forced to pay for the use of the cross-country track at Leas Road in Ennis.

As part of a draft series of bye-laws for parks and open spaces, it’s proposed that clubs pay forty euro per hour for use of the tracks, and that individuals be charged two euro per use.

Ennis town council has pointed out that it has developed and enhanced the track recently, and as it charges for the use of other sporting facilities at Lees Road, it has proposed this charge as a matter of fairness and consistency.

The matter was due to be brought up at last night’s meeting of Ennis Town Council, but was deferred for discussion until the New Year.
