The manager of the Clare intermediate champions says they're gunning for victory, despite being handed a baptism of fire in their opening match of this year's Senior Championship.

Feakle's long wait for promotion ended last year, but this weekend they start life in the top tier with a clash against Newmarket on Fergus, the 2012 County Champions.

Val Donnellan says they're looking to do themselves proud this weekend, and he's hopeful that'll be enough to see them over the line.

Feakle play Newmarket on Fergus on Saturday in Sixmilebridge, while the second part of the double header there will be the meeting of Kilmaley and Whitegate.

The East Clare outfit just secured survival in last year's Championship, but this year they have lost only one match in the Clare Cup.

Kilmaley boss PJ Kennedy is expecting a tough test.
