Whitegate manager Terence Fahy feels their opening 2022 Clare senior hurling championship tie will be an emotional affair for the club and community.

The East Clare side face Newmarket at Dr Daly Park in Tulla, in what will be their first championship outing since the tragic passing of clubmate Mikey Hynes earlier this year.

Fahy says having hurling to concentrate on over the last few months helped the group to cope, and is confident they are ready for the showdown with the Blues
