Europe retain Ryder Cup after major comeback

Europe produced a stunning final day fightback to win the Ryder Cup at Medinah in Chicago.

Trailing the USA 10-6 going into the singles, the Europeans won 8 of the 12 matches to win 14 and a half to 13 and a half.

Europe got themselves back in the running by taking the first 5 matches which included a win for Rory McIlroy.

It was level at 13 points a piece with two matches left out on the course and Germany’s Martin Kaymer held his nerve on the 18th green to beat Steve Stricker and retain the Cup.

Francesco Molinari halved the last match with Tiger Woods to give Europe a one point win.
