Clare Senior Football Manager Colm Collins says he interviewed four candidates before selecting his new coach for the county panel.
Cork man Ephie Fitzgerald, who has tasted success with his native Nemo Rangers and with Limerick's Ballylanders, will join the Saffron and Blue in 2015 as they prepare to make the step up to Division 3 of the National League.
Fitzgerald also worked with the Limerick Senior Footballers in 2011, when they reached the All-Ireland Quarter-Final.
Elsewhere, one of Kerry's most iconic players of recent times is to transfer to one of Cork's most famous clubs, with Tomás Ó Sé confirmed as a Nemo Rangers player.
The 36-year old has been teaching in the county for a number of years, and has recently been coaching UCC's freshers.
