Any hopes of reaching the semi-finals were over beforehand but after beating Offaly in Meelick, it was hoped the Banner could deliver a second home win.

The sides were level three times in the first half as a Chloe Morey brace and a good Eimear Kelly score converted for Clare.

But Eimear Kelly’s effort was their only one from play as they trailed 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time.  Chloe Morey added another free – Aisling Maher, Sinead Wylde, Orla Beagan and Aoibhe Dillon were on target for Dublin.

The key score came four minutes into the second half as Dublin opened up the opposing defence and Siobhan Kehoe set up Aisling Maher for the goal.

In a stop-start contest, it was the 50th minute before the umpires raised another flag as Orla Beagan made it 1-6 to 0-4 in Dublin’s favour.

The Metropolitians’ relegation fears were eased and Aoibhe Dillon and Chloe Morey traded points.  Clare’s former All-Star added another brace bringing the deficit back to three but they couldn’t manage the equalising goal.
