The draw for the county senior hurling championship  is set to take place this evening.

The 2013 championship will see the continuation of the system introduced last year by the structures review committee which will see five sides relegated to the intermediate championship.

Newmarket On Fergus will find out later who they will begin the defence of the Canon Hamilton against later this summer.

The draw for the senior championship is set to be made at tonight’s Clare county board meeting in Ennis with the threat of relegation hanging over five Clare sides ahead of the draw.

The bottom two sides in the Senior B side of the championship will automatically drop down a grade while they will be joined by three other sides drawn from a play off system.

The hurling championship is provisionally fixed to start on the 18th and 19th of May but the second round date will depend on the progress of the county’s senior side in Munster.

Tonight’ meeting is set to begin at 8pm
