Bernard Brogan’s goal after just 90 seconds saw Dublin charge into an early lead that they didn’t relinquish up until the final minute of normal time.
Ross McConnell fouled Colm O’Neill for a 55th minute penalty that Donncha O’Connor rifled into the bottom corner of the net.
Derek Kavanagh and Bernard Brogan traded points in injury-time, but the Dubs couldn’t find an equaliser as it finished:
Cork: 1-15
Dublin: 1-14
