Donnellan plays down importance of league performances

The captain of the Clare senior hurlers has downplayed the importance of the county’s League performances, as they prepare for the beginning of the Championship.

Clare returned to the top flight of the league in 2013, and secured their Division 1A status for 2014 by virtue of an extra-time win over Cork in a relegation play-off.

However, as Davy Fitzgerald’s side now prepare to take on one of the teams who beat them during that league campaign, captain Pat Donnellan says they’re focussing solely on the summer.

With Waterford and Clare going head to head at Semple Stadium in 11 days time, the O’Callaghan Mills man says the team are now only looking ahead.
