Melanie Nocher will not progress having finished seventh in her heat of the 200 metres backstroke in a very slow time of two minutes sixteen point two nine.
 
Nocher revealed afterwards she has been suffering gastroenteritis.
 
Dublinner Barry Murphy has expressed his disappointment after failing to qualify for the semi final of the 50 metres freestyle.

The 26 year old ended second in a time of 22.76 and outside his personnel best.

In Rowing

The Dublin based  Sanita Puspure has won her C semi final.

The final takes place on Saturday morning.
