Eire Og insists it will proceed with a protest outside Cusack Park tomorrow night regardless of the outcome of a meeting on underage hurling by the county board tonight.

The promotion of Under-age hurling in Ennis and the future role of the Urban board are the key issues set to be discussed by Eire Og and the Clare county hearings committee at a meeting this evening.

The Clonroadmore based side are appealing the decision not to allow them compete at u12 level despite having according to the club almost 100 children playing hurling in their academy each week from 6-11 years of age.

Currently the only sides that are able to compete at u12 level are affiliated to the urban board but a report published before Christmas and headed by PJ Fitzpatrick recommended that this change and both Eire og and banner be allowed compete at u12 level.

However in the months since and following several meeting’s no progress or consensus on the future development of hurling in Ennis has been reached.

Eire Og are hoping for a positive outcome and if so it was hoped a  planned protest set for Wednesday evening in Ennis would be cancelled.

But a spoksperson now says the protest will proceed regardless
