Delaney wants Trap’s future tied down

F.A.I Chief executive John Delaney says they want to get manager Giovanni Trapatonni’s future tied down as soon as possible.

The Italian oversaw his team qualify for the European Championships for the first time since 1988 with a 5-1 aggregate win over Estonia in the playoffs, 1-all the score in the second leg last night , Stephen Ward scoring the only goal for the home side.

Trap has publicly said he wishes to continue as manager and Delaney says they will try to get everything signed, sealed and delivered as soon as possible.

The draw for the pool stages of next Summers Championship take place on December 2nd with UEFA confirming the seeds today, it’s most likely we’ll be in the bottom group.

At present Poland and Ukraine are in the top group of seeds along with World cup finalists Spain and Netherlands while in Pot Two it’s Germany, Italy, England and Russia, Croatia. In Pot 3 it’s  Greece, Sweden and while in pot 4 it’s France, Denmark and the Czech Republic along with the Irish.

The tournament itself starts on the 8th of June next year.
