Deferal for county Under 21 Semis

 

The County U21 football semi finals due to be played this Thursday have been deferred following a request from the Clare U21 Hurling management.

The decision was taken at last nights July meeting of the Clare County Board after U21 manger John Minogue appealed to the clubs involved to allow the side prepare for next week’s Munster final in the best possible way.

The Clare Under 21 boss stated that  some 6 players of the U21 squad would be involved,4 from Cratloe, as well as one from Miltown and Lissycasey.

The 4 clubs involved left the meeting to discuss the proposal and agreed on their return that they would postpone but only if  a suitable date could be found.

There is to be a meeting with all 4 clubs as well as the county executive and the juvenile hurling and football boards this evening to try and organise a suitable re fixing of the matches .

The meeting was also addressed by  the county minor hurling management who are seeking a "deferral "(sic) of the round of county senior football championship fixtures scheduled for the 7th of August.

Joint manger Donal Moloney explained to the assembled meeting that it was their wish that the minor team have a full week to prepare for their All Ireland semi final on the 15th of August.

It was decided that the County Board would co opt three people onto the Fixtures committee to look at the issue and then  reconvene on Thursday week to assess the situation.
