The Westmeath fighter has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after his non-selection as a wildcard for the London Olympics.
Ward is the highest-ranked European in his division but lost in controversial circumstances to a home fighter at the qualifiers in Turkey earlier this year.
The European champion was told he does not fit the requirements for a wildcard as the place is traditionally held for competitors from developing and smaller nations.
Ward has taken this case as an individual.
