Eire Óg manager Shane Daniels says it was an emotional occasion for all involved with the club as they overcame Lissycasey to reach the TUS Clare senior football final.
The game was played under a veil of sadness following the sudden passing of Bernard O’Brien, whose brother Darren was due to line out, while his father Bob is a key member of the Eire Óg backroom team.
The victory sees the Townies set up a unique final pairing against neighbours St Joseph’s Doora Barefield in what will be the first time they have met in the showpiece event.
Daniels says their thoughts were with the O’Brien family throughout the performance.
Meanwhile Doora Barefield’s Patrick Bourke Menswear Man of the Match from their semi final win over Cratloe says the unity in their group has been a key factor in reaching the decider.
A first final in 13 years awaits the Parish after seeing off a stern test from Cratloe in their last four tie.
Tom Curran, who finished with a personal tally of 1-5, says everyone knows their role within the group.
