Crushing Defeat For Wolfe Tones In Clare SFC Round One

Wolfe Tones suffered a heavy defeat to reigning Champions Kilmurray Ibrickane on Saturday evening, in the first round of the Clare Senior Football Championship.

The Shannon side’s scoring consisted of only 2 points, while Kilmurry put 4-17 on the board.

Keelan Sexton opened the scoring for the winners with a sixth minute free, and tapped in the first goal of the game too – from a penalty at the beginning of the second half.

Also in action this evening was Kilfenora and O’Curry’s in Miltown Malbay.

The reigning Intermediate Champions lost out to Daniel Ryan’s side on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-9.

Tomorrow sees five games in the Championship. St Breckan’s meet Cooraclare in Ennistymon at 12 noon while Cusack Park hosts a double header – St Joseph’s Doora Barefield play Lisseycasey at 12.30 followed by an Eire Og clash with Corofin at 1.45.

At 3pm, Cooraclare is the venue as Kilkee meet Clondegad, and Ennistymon will be hoping for victory against Cratloe in Gurteen at 6.30.
