Colm Collins’s Cratloe have maintained their 100% start to the Clare Senior Football Championship and look firmly poised to progress to the last eight following an impressive 1-13 to 1-08 victory over Kilmihil at Cusack Park, Ennis.
It was the West Clare side in the ascendancy at the break however, with thanks to a superb team goal beginning in the full back line and finished to the net by Seán Crowley.
Podge Collins kicked three points for Cratloe in the opening quarter to keep his side in touch as the sides departed at the half time whistle Kilmihil 1-04 to Cratloe’s 0-07.
Despite Ciarán Downes opening the scoring on the restart for Kilmihil, Cratloe would rally to claim the next three points in a row with Cathal McInerney and Shane Gleeson proving to be particularly lethal in front of the posts contributing 1-04 between them in the second period.
An incisive pass from Podge Collins to set up Cathal McInerney for a simple finish on fifty-four minutes provided Cratloe’s goal and put the result beyond all doubt.
Cratloe now sit on top of the Group Two standings as they await a final round clash with Lissycasey, while Kilmihil must get a result when they face St.Joseph’s Doora- Barefield in round three to avoid a relegation scrap.
As it finished on a final score in Cusack Park, Ennis of Cratloe 1-13 to Kilmihil’s 1-08.
