The seeds of the victory were sown in the opening half, as with the aid of the breeze, the Clare champions led by 2-4 to 0-2.

The goals both came from man of the match Conor McGrath, who finished with a personal tally of 2-4.

The second half was a much tighter affair, with the Wateford men reducing the gap to just a single point after Conor Power goaled and Padraic Mahony keeping the scoreboard ticking over with frees.

The crucial goal for Cratloe came 7 minutes from time when Cathal McInerney improvised with his left boot to finish to the back of the Ballygunner net.

Cratloe drove on from that, and sealed the 3-7 to 1-10 win.

They now play the Tipperary champions in the semi final on November 9th in Cusack Park.
