It took a while for both teams to get going in SIxmilebridge, but Cratloe went in front early on courtesy of Podge Collins and Conor McGrath, before Clonlara through John Conlon and Cathal O'Connell.

The close affair was even at 0-4 apiece when Cratloe captain Liam Markham took a pass from Sean Collins and scored a goal for his side.  Their lead though was short-lived, as Darach Honan ran through the Cratloe defence three minutes later, and his hand pass to William Slattery allowed him to level matters at 1-4 apiece at half-time.

The sides exchanged points early on in the second half before Darach Honan scored a goal for Clonlara to put his side 2-6 to 1-5 ahead, but Cratloe refused to die.

They scored five points from Cathal McInerney, Conor McGrath (3) and Conor Ryan, before John Conlon brought Clonlara level at 2-7 to 1-10.

Then, in the 59th minute, a high ball from Conor Ryan landed near the goalmouth and Conor McGrath scored the game-winning goal for the county champions.

Cormac O'Donovan cut the gap to two, but the full-time whistle blew with the score Cratloe 2-10 Clonlara 2-8.
