Cratloe and Clonlara impress after round one of senior championship

Round one of the county senior hurling championship has concluded with Cratloe and Clonlara racking up the biggest winning margins over the weekend.

Cratloe overcame Sixmilebridge in Cusack park last night by 2-17 to 1-12, Cathal Mc Inerney and Damien Browne with the vital goals while Declan morey raised a green flag for the bridge.

Speaking afterwards Cratloe boss Joe Mc Grath was happy with how his side performed :

Earlier kilmaley beat Clarecastle by 1-13 to 0-13 also in Cusack park ,with the sides deadlocked on 6 points each at the break before Michael O Neill’s second half goal,after good work from sub Alan Markham, proved the difference.

Clonlara defeated St Joseph’s by 1-19 to 0-9,with Darach Honan grabbing his sides goal.

In group two  and  Newmarket claimed their first win  after they defeated Tulla by 0-12 to 0-1

Elsewhere Inagh kilnamona defeated Clooney Quin by 1-10 to 1-8, Conor Tierney and Peter Duggan with the goals in the first half.

In the senior b championship Eire Og  beat Whitegate by 2-12 to 1-14 in Tulla and Scariff beat Wolfe tones by 2-10 to 0-11

The game between Ballyea and O Callaghan’s Mills ended in a draw, 1-15 to ballyea, 3-9 for the Mills, Adrian Flaherty with a hatrick of goals and Tibber edged Smith O briens by 0-22 to 1-13.

The Intermediate championship also kicked off yesterday evening.
