County chairman calls on Croke park to change national fixtures to alleivate local problems

The Clare county board chairman has called on Croke park to alter the national fixtures plan in order to allevitae fixture chaos at local level.

Michael Mc Donagh was speaking in the aftermath of last night’s special Clare county board meeting which saw clubs endorse the master fixtures plan for 2013.

The county senior hurling championship will begin on the weekend of the 18th of May however delegates also voted to approve a provisional second round date at the end of June if Clare are knocked out of the Munster championship by either Waterford or Cork.

If Clare qualify for the provincial final then the Second round will proceed in August.

The Clare football championship will also  begin the first weekend in August as per the original plan.

Mc Donagh told Clare FM that there need to be more done to help clubs and counties run their local fixtures.
