A meeting of Clare GAA was held in Clareabbey on Tuesday night, with the overwhelming majority of clubs in attendance in favour of the games going ahead.

A letter signed by Davy Fitzgerald and his senior management team was read out to the meeting, and in it they appealed to clubs to postpone the fixtures to allow them to prepare uninterrupted for their first round All Ireland Qualifier, which could be on June 28th .

Following a lengthy debate during which all clubs present had their views aired, chairman Michael McDonagh adjourned the meeting to allow the CCC to discuss the next step.

On their return, the chairman said that neither he or the hurling management wanted the issue to go to a vote, which they felt would be divisive, and the decision was taken that games will go ahead as planned this weekend.
