Concern of future of underage clubs

Concern has been expressed for the future of many Clare clubs and their ability to field teams at underage level.

Last night’s AGM of Bord na nOg Peil heard a presentation from Clare Minor football manager Michael Neylon who, using census statistics, suggested that more clubs will need to group together in the coming years, in order to compete at the various underage levels.

Bord na nOg Peil chairman John Smith has described the report as ‘an eye-opener’

Last night’s meeting saw all officers re-elected.

Concerns were raised by delegates regarding the issue of player burnout, especially at dual clubs.

This will be examined by both Bord na nOg Peil and Bord na nOg Iomant. 

Chairman John Smith has also praised the work gone into coaching at clubs throughout Clare and says he’s confident this will pay off in years to come.
