Cusack Park played host to a feast of hurling on Saturday and Sunday, and we now know three of the four quarter finalists in Clare’s Senior and Intermediate Hurling Championships.

Reigning champions Sixmilebridge will be in the hat after their victory over Broadford, as will 2018 champions Ballyea after they got past Kilmaley. O Callaghans Mills will be there a well following their win over highly fancied Inagh Kilnamona, and the fourth name in the pot will be the winners of Eire Og’s quarter final with Feakle – the Ennis side having recorded a six point victory over 2019 finalists Cratloe yesterday in their deferred second round clash.

Speaking after his side’s victory on Saturday, Sixmilebridge boss Tim Crowe says there will be no asterisk beside this year’s eventual winners.

Both Clarecastle and Newmarket-On-Fergus will be involved in the Senior B shake up, having seen off Whitegate and Wolfe Tones respectively over the weekend.

At Intermediate level, meanwhile, last year’s finalists St Joseph’s Doora Barefield are still on course to go one better having beaten Bodyke in the last eight on Saturday – joining them will be Scariff – who stopped Tulla in their attempt to return to Senior level – and Tubber, who recorded an impressive win over Sixmilebridge’s second string yesterday.

Completing that lineup will be the winners of the deferred quarter final between Smith O Briens and Corofin, the Reds having comfortably overcome Cratloe in Round 2.

Two time All Ireland winner Ger Sparrow O Loughlin says the high levels of performance bode well for the Banner at county level going into the winter.
