Clonlara preparing for hurling championship opener

The  race for the  Canon Hamilton trophy begins this weekend with three games down for decison in this years county senior hurling championship.

Two  of the last three champions will be on show as Cratloe meet Tubber who overcame the south east Clare side in last year’s group stages while 2008 champions Clonlara meet St Josephs Doorabarefield.

The sides met at the group stages last season and Clonlara mentor Tom Maloney is expecting a difficult encounter:

In football news and the O Gorman cup continues this weekend with round six down for decison on Saturday evening,.

Holders Doonbeg are due to meet Liscannor while St Jospeh’s Doorabarefield will meet Kilrush.
 
In group two Lissycasey meet Ennistymon O Currys play Clondegad,Cooraclare take on Kilkee while St Breckans have a bye.

The Kilmihil Shannon Gaels game has been postponed until Wednesday due to their Cusack cup tie with KIlmurray Ibrickane which means it is unlikely Miltown willl meet the 2009 Munster football champions in their O Gorman cup tie this weekend.
