Clean sweep for Clare handballers

There was great success for Clare’s underage handballers over the weekend, with the Banner County successful in all nine Munster Juvenile Finals played in Tulla, O’Callaghans Mills and Kilkishen over the weekend. Munster titles were picked up by the following;

Brian Fahy (Tulla, Boys u14 Singles, beat Cork)
Clodagh Nash (Tuamgraney) & Doieann Murphy (Clarecastle) (Girls u14 Doubles, beat Waterford)
Jacob Loughnane & Ciaran Cooney (O’Callaghans Mills, Boys u15 Doubles, beat Cork)
Alice Akers (Tuamgraney, Girls u16 Singles, beat Waterford)
Colin Crehan (Kilkishen, Boys u16 Singles, beat Cork)

The final two Munster Finals involving Clare players will be played this Monday night in Clooney, starting 7.00pm;

In the All-Ireland Senior Singles Championship, Tuamgraney’s Niall Malone was forced to pull out due to injury very early in the first game of his tie against Cavan’s Paul Brady in Kingscourt. Ballina pair Ger Coonan and Fergal Collins were also in Senior Singles action but were defeated by Dominic Lynch (Kerry) and Ricky McCann (Antrim) respectively.
