Clare’s Barry Cotter has embarked on the next step of his professional career.
The 26 Year-Old Ennis native has joined League Two side Notts County on a season long loan from Barnsley, whom he made 72 appearances for since joining in 2023.
It’s the latest venture for Cotter, who’s also played professionally for Limerick FC, St Patrick’s Athletic, Shamrock Rovers and Chelmsford City.
In a statement Notts County Director of Football Roberto Gagliardi says “Barry possesses outstanding speed and athleticism, as well as an incredibly long throw, qualities which stood out to me when I first watched him when he was a youngster at Ipswich Town. He’s a right-footed wing back who can play on either flank, as well as at full back or as a winger, and brings strong experience of playing in League One and the Irish top flight.”
Head Coach Martin Paterson added “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to sign Barry. I know him well, which means I’ll be able to help him perform to the best of his abilities as quickly as possible, while also helping him improve in other areas, key for us was Barry’s obvious desire to come here and help the club achieve its objectives and it’s great to have him on board.”
