Tipp had initially done Brian Lohan’s team a favour by defeating Waterford 1-30 to 1-21 in Thurles.
However, Cork were on the receiving end of a 3-26 to 1-16 beating from Limerick at the TUS Gaelic Grounds to end Clare’s hopes of taking the fight to the final day.
