Clarecastle “Can’t Afford’ Cusack Park Levy

Clarecastle GAA delegate Bernard Hanrahan has stated the club won’t pay the full levy imposed on them by Clare GAA for the refurbishment of Cusack Park.

An initial annual figure of €1,000 per club toward the cost of servicing a loan to complete the €2.3 million project had been mooted, but a tiered structure has now been put in place.

Clarecastle are one of the clubs in Tier 2 and are facing a charge of €1,400 per year, but Hanrahan says they simply can't afford it.

Meanwhile, it's being reported that the clock-hooter system may be dropped.

Central Council will submit a motion to congress for the rule to be deleted, following discussions this weekend where reservations were expressed about practicalities of the proposed system.
