Clarecastle & Broadford To Do Battle In Winner Takes All Clash

Broadford and Clarecastle will do battle this afternoon in a winner takes all clash in the Clare senior hurling championship.

The two sides are at the foot of group two, with the winner set to preserve the senior status and the loser entering the relegation playoffs.

Broadford boss Jimmy Browne says he’s hopeful the experience his side has built up in the senior ranks will stand to them this afternoon.

Clarecastle manager Brian Russell, meanwhile, is still hopeful of seeing his side progress into the Senior B championship.

A win for the Magpies today could see them doing that if other results go their way.

Russell says it’s the primary motivation for his side.

Throw in today in Cusack Park is at 3pm with commentary on Clare FM with O Connell Quarries, Ardnacrusha.
The other game in the group sees Cratloe taking on O Callaghans Mills.

The 2014 winners are already guaranteed to top the standings, with the Mills already assured of safety and Senior B status.

That one gets underway in Sixmilebridge at 5.30.
In the intermediate championship, Newmarket take on O Callaghans Mills from 3.30 in Sixmilebridge.
