Clare win All Ireland U21 title after 2-17 to 2-11 win over Kilkenny

Clare are All Ireland U21 champions arfter defeating Kilkenny this evening by 2-17 to 2-11 in Semple Stadium.

Clare got the perfect start after Cathal O Connell goaled inside the opening 10 minutes but Kilkenny scored two goals in the space of three minutes at the end of the first half,first a penalty from John Power and the second a goal from Ger Alyward which left Clare trailing 2-7 to 1-7 at the break.

However a dominant second half performance from the Munster champions which saw captain Conor Mc Grath goal on 44 minutes gave Clare the impetus and they romped home to a six point win-sealing the county’s second ever All Ireland title at u21 level.

Clonlara’s Cathal O Connell was awarded the man of the match after scoring 1-6 of his sides total and the offical homecoming will be in the Abbey Street car park on Sunday at 6pm.
