Colm Collins side had a 1-11 to 0-7 win over Sligo in Miltown Malbay, with captain Gary Brennan pouncing for the goal inside the closing ten minutes.
Clare had trailed 0-4 to 0-2 at the break after playing into a gale force breeze at the west Clare venue.
Manager Colm Collins says it was pleasing to come away with the win in difficult conditions.
Elsewhere in Division Three, Limerick and Tipperary shared the spoils in Kilmallock, while Offaly beat Longford and Kildare got the better of Westmeath.
