The Banner clinched victory with a 1-12 to 0-12 win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

0-9 from Lissycasey's Conor Finucane, 0-8 of them from play, and a late goal from St Breckan's Joe McGann proved crucial as Clare began the season with silverware.

Clare started the game brightly and were 0-8 to 0-3 ahead with 7 minutes to go to half time.

From here Limerick kicked the next 4 scores unanswered to trail by just a point at the break, and just after the restart they levelled the game up at 0-8 each.

Clare responded by getting the next two scores to move 0-10 to 0-8 clear with 15 minutes to go.

Limerick cut the gap to one as the game edged towards it conclusion, but two more unanswered from the Banner saw them lead 0-12 to 0-9 with time almost up.

The Shannonsiders wouldn't go down easily though and made it a two point game once more, before McGanns late goal put the result beyond doubt.

The home side kicked the last score of the game but it would prove little more than consolation as Clare took the three point win, and now look ahead to travelling to Tralee to face Kerry in the Munster Quarter Final on March 8th.
